Critical Analysis of Active Reward Project

The website for Active Reward is partly functional, however it does show how it would work when fully functional. There are 3 menu buttons and all of those work, however I was unable to show how to create a profile. Although to show how this would work I included a create a profile page, and on this page is a form to fill out, and this is basically how it would work. Also when on the profile page I couldn’t get the stars to move when clicked and dragged as Adobe Muse wouldn’t let me do this, so this is just a mock up example of how it would work. Overall I believe the website I have created is good and has the right detail and design for the target audience, however I do think that I could improve the look of the reward chart as it looks a bit simple. Maybe adding a selection of stickers that the children could choose from would create a more interesting experience.

I do think that the videos on the home page work well, they promote the project and also explain to kids why they should be doing exercise and add an element of fun. I think these could be improved by making them longer so more detail and explanation could be included. I would add more information about how Active Reward works in the promotional video, including the 3 simple steps to creating a profile that I have incorporated into my website on the About page.

I think all my products are relevant to the project and help towards promoting a healthy life style.

Finished Product

I have created a website, promotional video and a animation for my project. I believe that they all work in the way I want them to and help to advertise my product well.

The website for Active Reward, I made on Adobe Muse and I created this to look bright and colourful using a set colour scheme, this will attract in young children. I made all the elemnts of my website look childlike and easy to use; meaning that even if parents are not confident with technology then they would still be able to use it. The reward chart is a fun and easy way of calculating the amount of exercise completed in a week and the fun element of dragging and dropping a star on your own chart will give children the positive feeling that they have achieved something. Overall I think that my website works how I wanted it to and is very child friendly matching my target audience.

The animation for Active Reward was more created to get children interested in the healthy life style. I used different fruits as characters to promote a healthy diet and animated them all to do a form of exercising; which links to my project as a whole. The simple conversation within the animation is easy to read and uses simple wording methods, meaning that even children the age of 3 will be able to understand them. I have used 2D objects that I created in Photoshop and then animated them in a 3D world, using cameras to create the effect that I wanted.

The promotional video for Active Reward is simply to inform the parent audience about what active reward is and does. I chose a lively song and colourful background to keep with the childlike theme and used easy simple wording to explain what Active Reward does, creating the feel of an easy usage. I used Adobe Voice to create this video, and I believe that it does what it was created to.

Website

Here are some screen shots of my website, I have changed them slightly since I first created mock ups as I think the blue header rather than the pink creates a more eye catching look.

Animation

Over the last few weeks I have been working on an animation to go on my website. I started off by creating a storyboard and this gave me the storyline, idea and characters that I wanted to include in my animation

This is the storyboard…

I used fruit as my characters because not only are they healthy and part of a healthy life, they are also very bright and colourful, attracting my target audience of children aged 3-8.

I created my animation using mainly 2d flat animation characters; although then changing them into 3D space to create more effects. Cameras are also used in my animation.

I believe that the animation I have created works well, and will help to get kids more involved and encourage them to do more exercise.
